Deciduous tree-shrub with pear-shaped fruit. Its fragant flowers attract native bees and butterflies.

Fall-flowering and hummingbird-pollinated. White-lined sphinx caterpillars also love this plant. 

Usually found on gravel and sandy slopes along washes of the Chaparral and Coastal Sage Scrub.

A woody shrub with leathery leaves in groups and the flowers vary from white to pink. Bee pollinated.
